My hope for every student in my studio is that they discover what it means to have a safe place to express themselves through music. The voice is an intimate instrument. It is carried in the body and shaped by breath, thought, emotion, habit, and lived experience. Because of that, I do not believe voice lessons are only about producing a better sound. They are also about helping students build trust in the voice that already belongs to them.
My teaching is rooted in Trauma-Informed Voice Care, which I understand not as therapy or diagnosis, but as a way of creating healthier conditions for vocal learning. In my studio, this means teaching with safety, trust, transparency, collaboration, student agency, and sustainable growth at the center of the process. Students deserve to know why we are doing an exercise, what we are listening for, and how to recognize meaningful changes in their own sound.
Technical progress matters. I want students to sing with more freedom, coordination, and skill. But I do not measure success only by polished notes or impressive moments. Success can also be a student enjoying lessons, finding language for what they feel, asking brave questions, identifying a change in their body, or realizing that they can recreate a sound that once felt out of reach.
I work with each student to build a shared vocabulary for their individual instrument. Some students understand sound through physical sensation. Some understand through imagery, movement, emotion, or color. My job is to offer accurate, informed instruction while also listening carefully to how each student experiences their own voice. I do not want students to feel like objects being fixed. I want them to become active participants in their own growth.
Above all, I believe the voice studio should be a place where challenge and care can exist together. Students are not expected to be perfect. They are invited to try, notice, adjust, laugh, learn, and keep singing. My goal is for students to leave lessons not only singing better, but trusting themselves more deeply.

Quotes/Testimonies
“You are such an amazing teacher--thank you for all the amazing work you have taught me through the school year!"
"Staley Clark never lets any detail go unnoticed as she focuses on helping students reach their full potential. She reminds students that everything comes back to the breath, grounding them in the fact that singing is as natural as breathing. This is incredibly helpful, as new students can get easily lost in new terminology, technique, etc."
"Ms. Clark's teaching demonstrates a perfect example of a loving and nurturing environment for young, beginning singers as she implements fun and humor into her teaching. She also ensures that her students feel uplifted about each step of their vocal journey, no matter how big or small the accomplishment."
